The research efforts in the Sabaawy laboratory at CINJ are focused on studying stem cell cellular self-renewal and cancer stem cells utilizing patient-derived cells to generate patient-derived organoids (PDOs), that when coupled with genome sequencing and humanized patient derived xenografts (PDXs) allow for testing drug sensitivity prior to initiation of therapy of cancer patients and generate better models for drug discovery. Our PDOs may be incorporated into medical devices and have strong implications in the fields of organ regeneration, regenerative medicine, personalized medicine, and precision cancer therapy.
